Tavira

                                                                         Tavira

Tavira is one of the most charming towns and a perfect destination for tourists.

Tavira is concealed by a labyrinth of cobbled streets titled houses, family restaurants, and decorative churches.

In Tavira, the Gilao River meets up with the Atlantic ocean. The ocean water temperature remains constantly warm throughout the year and is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports.

The beaches are found on the seaward side of Ilha de Tavira, and this island has continuous sandy beaches stretching for over 10km. The most popular beach is Praia de Tavira which is reached by a fiery one that departs from central Tavira.

Near the coast in the eastern Algarve, Tavira is one of the region's prettiest towns.
Ferries depart from the quay to the Ilha de Tavira, a favorite destination for sun-seekers and one of the few islands in the area where camping is permitted.

The hipped roofs that define much of Tavira's architecture, are unique to this part of the Algarve. So, are 21 churches that embellish the old town.

Sited on both sides of the broad River Gilão, this is a destination celebrated for its historical legacy, a past shaped by the Romans and later by the Moors, whose settlement by the river was topped by a castle, still visible today.

Straddling the river is an elegant bridge, built in the 17th century on Roman foundations.

A walk along the riverfront is the best way of appreciating Tavira; the palm-lined gardens are flecked with color in the summer months and a nearby market brims with fresh fruit and vegetables.

Alternatively, you can join a sightseeing cruise along the Ria Formosa, a beautiful and unspoiled waterway and part of a protected natural park.

Travel is worth watching as it is one of the most beautiful place in Portugal
